Move Quickly! Everything you need in a "Go Bag"
With COVID-19 spreading like wildfire, students on college campuses may find themselves in a situation where they must quarantine or have to move to another location quickly. Having a bag ready to grab makes sense. Our list was adapted from the University of Michigan with our own additions:
- Cell phone charger and extra (if you have one)
- List of allergies
- Important contact list
- Wallet and identification
- Toiletries (soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, retainers, deodorant, etc.)
- Prescriptions
- Glasses/contacts/cleaner/solution
- Hand sanitizer
- Cleaning wipes
- Sanitizing spray
- Tissues
- Thermometer
- Masks
- Gloves
- Tylenol
- Cough drops
- Cough and congestion medicine (Robitussin or Mucinex DM)
- Vicks VapoRub
- Water bottle
- Tea
- Snacks
- 3 changes of clothes, including socks and underwear
- Jacket or sweater
- Blanket
- Pillows
- Towels and washcloths
- Backpack including writing materials
- Planner to keep track of assignments and appointments
- Laptop or tablet
- Earbuds
- Things to occupy your time – coloring books, crayons, cards, books, journals
Always be ready so you won’t have to get ready. Safety is KEY. Making sure you have what you need is never an inconvenience. This is just another way of helping you transition into the new way of doing things (hopefully temporarily) on a college campus and avoid getting too stressed out. Luckily, some of these items are in the Freshman Fun Box and The HBCU Box to make things a little easier. Take this in stride and have an awesome year!
